Who we are

About the Order

An independent historical and educational organisation devoted to knowledge, enlightenment and the honest study of history.

The Seven Order of the Illuminati is a modern, independent organisation. We take our name and inspiration from the Enlightenment-era society founded in Bavaria in 1776, and from the ideals of reason, learning and self-improvement it professed.

We are not the Bavarian Illuminati, and we do not claim to be its continuation. Our work is historical and educational: to explore, preserve and present the documented record, and to separate it clearly from the myths that grew up around it.

Who We Are

An independent organisation for history, education and enlightenment.

The Seven Order of the Illuminati brings together people who care about history, learning and the ideals of the Enlightenment. We research the documented history of the Bavarian Illuminati and its era, publish educational material, maintain a public archive, and host events.

We are a modern organisation. We do not claim descent from, or continuity with, the society founded in Ingolstadt in 1776.

Our Mission

To preserve knowledge and inspire generations.

To explore, preserve and present the history of the Illuminati, its documents, its people and its age — accurately, with sources, and with a clear line between evidence and legend.

Our Vision

A public that can tell history from myth.

We want anyone curious about the Illuminati to be able to find the real story: what the documents say, who the people were, and why the myths arose.

Our Values

Seven principles, applied in practice.

Our work is guided by the Seven Principles: Knowledge, Wisdom, Unity, Discipline, Integrity, Enlightenment and Legacy. In practice that means citing sources, admitting uncertainty, treating people with respect and acting transparently.

Our Objectives

What we set out to do.

  • Maintain a searchable, sourced archive of historical documents and references.
  • Publish accurate, accessible historical articles and research.
  • Hold educational events, conferences and exhibitions.
  • Correct common misinformation about the Illuminati and its symbols.
  • Build an international community of members committed to these aims.
