What it is
A critical, annotated edition of the surviving correspondence of the order: volume 1 covers 1776–1781 (2005) and volume 2 covers 1782–1783 (2013).
Why it matters
The letters show the order from the inside — its debates, recruitment and internal conflicts — rather than through the selection published by its opponents in 1787.
